What are pores?

Pores are open follicles in the skin where hair protrudes out from and oil secretions are made to lubricate the skin.  They can be refined with daily home care and in clinic treatments.*

Pore Reduction FAQ’s

Enlarged pores are a sign of overly active sebum glands (in lay man terms very oily skin).  Most commonly found on the T Zone covering the nose, cheeks and chin.  As we age our pores become larger due to a decrease in the production of collagen, an essential firming & plumping function of the skin.

Unfortunately unless you have a very oil dry skin you will always have pores.  Although you can minimise their appearance so they are less noticeable.

If you are prone to open, clogged or oily pores you will need to invest in regular pore reduction treatments like microdermabrasion & peels at your local skin clinic.  Daily use of exfoliating and skin refining products is also needed.  In more severe cases you may also need clinical resurfacing treatments like fractional laser, Clinical Skin Needling or IPL to tighten and reduce pore size.

The answer to this question depends on the condition of your skin.  If you are prone to break out you are best to have a course of weekly peels to help correct the breakout first and then do monthly microdermabrasion or peels to maintain heathy skin with refined pores.  If you have healthy skin you should set your microdermabrasion or peel appointments 4 – 6 weeks apart to keep your pores clean, firm and refined.

The best treatment for you is a combination of microdermabrasion and IPL or Fractional Laser.  Bio Hydroderm can be performed prior to IPL or Emerge Fractional Laser and has been proven to improve laser pore reduction results.
